I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this topic but here it goes...

Does anyone have any information/personal experience growing mangroves in aquarium conditions?
Any adivce about how to plant them, the water conditions they need, lighting, etc.

Any info would be great. :good:

Thanks!

I thought they were brackish, I'm not sure about FW but on all TV programmes they have brackish mangrove swamps. You might be able to get FW mangroves as I think there's quite a few species, but I'm not sure.

There are some species of mangroves that will grow in FW, and some in SW and yet more in BW. They are most often encountered in SW systems where they are grown as a nutrient export (though they seem less common than macroalgae such as Caulerpa and Chaetomorphia these days). They need a fair amount of light and you have to be a bit careful on not letting the seeds get completely submerged, other than that they seem to grow ok. Frequent pruning can become necessary.

Try searching for posts by Navarre including the word mangroves, somewhere in Nav's old posts there should be some good info for you
