I bought two dwarf gouramis yesterday for my community tank, well established 190l trigon

I've absolutely fallen in love with them, they are such stunning fish :)

Anyway, I have two males and 1 is clearly the dominant, picked out his cave and chases the other away if he comes near, also seams to just chase him for fun, when ever he sets eyes on him, poor thing

so I was thinking would it be better to add another in order to spread out the aggression?

I'm not sure how stocked my tank is

current inhabitants in 190l trigon

2x male dwarf gouramis
6x black phantom tetra's
3x adult sword tails
around 9x young swordtails
and a small catfish, totally forgot what's its called

Advice would be appreciated thanks :)

I'd probably take one of them back rather than get more. 190liters is a lot of room, but he will probably only get more aggressive with age and need that room when he gets to be 9cm. You could try switching for a female, but he probably wouldn't like them anymore than the other male until it comes to the 24 hours of breeding time (and after that it'd death for any fish that goes near the nest).

Thanks for the reply!

I'd hate to take one back but i will if I feel it's necessary, I'll see how they get on over the next couple of days

I have a 94ltr Askoll pure XL tank and three weeks ago purchased male and female (sold as pairs) of Red Gouramis, they looked great in the tank, so returned and purchased another pair a week later. They all seem to get on with each other, the males chasing the females now and then but no sings of any major aggression from what I can see towards the other fish. (Neon Tetras, Bronze Cory,Yo Yo Loach, Hakari Danio, Oto catfish). I did have two blue dwarf in my old smaller tank, they lasted about 2 weeks and i later found out they carry a disease!!!. So guess you could try getting them some ladies to chase about lol.......By the way, only my opinion, only been keeping tropical fish for a few months and still learning with the help of staff at my local aquatic centre.
