Honeythorn
Sugar coating and nicely nicely? I don't think so
I bought a trio of pygmy cories today to add to Duncan's tank. I was thinking they could ferret around on the bottom, keep him company ect. NO. Duncan apparantly does not like Pygmy cories. I think my mistake here is that I added some new fish to HIS territory.
Now..Dunc is an active chap, always on the go, but he doesn't flare. Not at me, mother, anyone or anything. I managed to get him to do it once when I presented him with a bright red paper betta that I'd made ( I moved it around on the other side of the glass ) and he gave a half hearted attempt at it, but he soon realised it was fake and hasn't bothered since.
But when I put the bag containing the three little cories in to float, he went MENTAL
. He barged right up and flared at them, he kept pecking/biting the bag, he approached them from every angle and kept on flaring like it was going out of style! His " beard" came right out and everything! The cories weren't in the least bit interested by his macho man behaviour though, they just sat there
I only wish I'd had my phone to take a picture!
I've had to put them in my 12 gal with the Dwarf Gourami and Krib though, after his reaction to them in the bag it was plain he wasn't going to tolerate them, and he could easily kill them as they are only young and about 1.5 cm long.
I think in future tanks I'll add the cories first and the betta after!!!
