Hello to everyone,

I have an 80L tropical aquarium, with 3 male guppy's, 6 blue platy's, 11 neon tetra's, 2 sucklers as well as 3 adult and 2 baby mauri gold platy's.
I have a PH of 6.6, hardness of 180, 0-0.25ppm ammonia and nitrite levels, the temperature is at 26C.

The tank has basic pebbles <not sure what kind> as well as 2 plants again i cannot recall the exact species they grow quite long but do not thicken out much, if i can find my notes on them i wil post the species..

The problem i am having is my water is an extrememly rich deep toxic green with an oily surface and texture, it has been this way for over 2 weeks and does not appear to be clearing of it own accord the entire tank has only been set up about a month so i thought origianlly it may have been a bacterial bloom but it has not shown any indication of clearing but keeps thickening, i am fairly new to tropical aquariums and am not sure what else could be the cause or what is the best way to address this, i have topped up the water as it evaporates with an external filter but still have seen no improvement, i know not to completely refill the tank as it would set back the biological bacterial development but the water is very murky although the fish seem ok they have healthy appetites and are not hiding among the plant life or seeming aggitated they seem perfectly happy which is a good sign i believe,

Basically everything seems fine yet the water is dis-coloured and oily... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated i cannot even keep track of the fish as i cannot see through the tank..

Regards,
