Sup Guys! :D
First time posting here so, forgive my mistakes..
Yeah, the Topic Title says it all. I just bought Six baby Cichlids in a shop, and apparently they were both Africans and South Americans...
1 Pure Venustus Cichlid
1 Pure Firemouth Cichlid
2 Pure Green Terrors
and apparently, based on my research my last two were:
1 Green Terror-Auratus Mix
1 Green Terror-Venustus Mix
Are these fry compatible with the pure fry I have? Let alone are these really POSSIBLE MIXES?
Please answer :D
I'll post there pics as soon as some people comment.
Thanks

I don't think mixing africans and americans is a good idea because of the different water parameters.
Americans like lower PH and softer water than Africans, They will live but not be as comfortable as they would be in there proper enviroment.

Hey, welcome :)
As you already suspect, I don't think they are possible mixes - your pure Venustus Cichlid is probably the only african in there, it's probably better to return that one to the shop bud. Hard to say if your firemouth will be ok among the terrors but best results always come from rearing them together from babies in my experience. Fun starts when they pair off! Love to see some pics, bring 'em on!!

I've got a firemouth in with my GTs and it has been fine, although my GT don't breed anymore.
IMO if you want to keep them together long term, you'd need a decent sized tank as terrors can be pretty chillaxed until they hit about 6inch.

A fully grown Melanochromis Arautus mbuna Cichlid would rip a Green Terror into chunks unless it was a full 9-10" Bull male and could cope with being smashed on 24/7, they along with Demasoni are one of the most evil aggressive nasty cichlids known in the hobby, i tried mixing a aggressive adult 6" male convict in my Mbuna tank because he was beating up everything in my 6ft American cichlid community and the 4" Arautus ripped him to bits before i could fish him out.

Venestus can mix, they are pretty chilled but will eat anything they can fit into there mouths...much like Oscars.

It in general is best not to mix african and American cichlids, although i do it with chilled out things like Yellow labs and Electric Blue Haps.
