Hello my name is david i have a 100 ltr tank. the occupants are 2 one and a half inch green terrors brought together at the local fish shop. they seem to get along fine at the present time although the dominate brighter one gets a little agro during feeding.

How long will this peace last

what size tank would be appropriate when there relationship fails

any other advise would be greatly appriciated

i am simply captivated by there colours and intellegence please help me to care for them thank you greatly

Having personally kept and bred these fish i kept my breed pair in a 3ft tank on there own. giving my male was 10.5 inches "check avatar". if you've got both males i can see aggression developing later on in life, two females are usually more calming. Male and female pair woud be great.

I agree with you on there intellegence and beauty,
Terrors are too often dismissed because f there common name.

Can't wait until mine gets his colours like yours, he's beginging to get some now, unfortunatly his partner was attacked by a clown loach when smaller but only because she swum into the loaches hideaway which he rarely ventured out of. But he went to my sons 5ft tank as he was double the size of my other clowns despite being bought at same time. I don't know why people dismiss them as they are lovely fish and such beautiful colours in them.

they are beautiful fish, im glad there are people who agree with me :D.

They're not the most aggressive of fish and they're personable.
So an ideal choice.

I hope yours gets colours like mine, as ive been offer'd £250
by my local breeder for him. Given hes brighter than most of the marines down there.

woah thats amazing. can you give me a general idea of growth rate over months becouse i know that 100 ltrs will not do im just wondering how long it will last

if i remember correctly mine took about 5-6 mnths to go into adult colours and maybe a month or two extra to reach full size. I use to feed them on hikari gold & tetra prima whilst they were young, great stuff.

females are smaller and darker than males and lack a nucal hump at maturity. im yet to have a female over 8 inches, whillstmales can reach 9-12 inches. in rare occasions bigger

I feed Hikari gold too as he's in with Convicts, he also eats many of the convict fry which is why I think he's growing so fast. But although he's in a 4ft at moment i think i'm going to move him to the larger tank which will also give my convict fry a better chance of survival. But i'll keep him and the Firemouth together when I move them.

just trying to help pls dont take it the wrong way but the tank you have for ure two green terrors will be way to smll and will stunt their growth. i have a 120 litre tank and thats not big enough for one.
