Heres 2 short video of my juvis :) please have a ganders! comments welcome

flies, mozzies, earthworms, cockroaches, aphids, as long as they are free of chemicals and pesticides.

raw prawn or fish from the freezer.

You say green terrors 'not singular' how man have you got?

As Colin said: earthworms are good, however that depends on what you put on your garden, i know we use various things to keep the weeds at bay, and promotes grass growth, so be careful.

Mine loves defrosted prawns: I know many people may say you shouldnt feed them, however I have for many years 'use at your risk not mine lol' but buying a bag of cocktail prawns 'cheap ones' is more cost effective than buying a blister pack of prawns from your lfs - I just bought 3 bags of cocktail prawns from Morrisons for £1.79 each...not bad really, when you think how many you get in a bag, compared to a £2.50 blister pack.

I also put in flake - get the good stuff though - it is really good for them

i have 2 three to four inch juvi's so there not huge, but not tiny :) thanks so far for your advice

Earthworms are ok, but I'd stay away from insects near your home. You never know what kind of pesticides or chemicals they have cone in contact with.

Just go buy a bag of pellets from your lfs. I'd suggest hikari bio gold. Times might be tough but that's no reason to skimp on fish food. If you can't afford to properly feed your fish, you should rehome them to someone who can.

Then why worry about what bugs to feed them?
It makes no sense subject them to the possibility of disease and toxins if you already have them on pellets.

Use a variety of pellets along with treats of frozen or freeze dried foods. Make sure all foods are prepared by a reputable company. I personally get most of my food from dainichi and hikari, and use it for all my fish.
I never use or suggest the use of live foods for many reasons including the possibility of toxins and disease that could kill your wetpets.
Its just not worth the risk.

I'm not going to deliver a sermon on feeding live or wild food, that's your choice. I've always been happy to harvest Daphnia from my garden pond and water butts in the past, never had any problems.

There is one thing that might be worth a try, mealworms. They're really easy to breed. I've fed them to smaller fish before by pulling the head off and squeezing the contents into the tank, the fish loved them. You could feed the mealworms whole to your Green Terrors.

Just google 'breeding mealworms'. A pet shop that sells reptile stuff will have mealworms for sale to get you started, or get a few from someone who keeps lizards.

mealworms are fine. also, blackworms if you can get them. the are not nearly as disease prone as feeder fish, and generally arent introduced to pesticides when farmed. however, make sure you breed them yourself, or get them from a reputable breeder.
