I purchased a potential Green Terror breeder pair a little less than 2 weeks ago. These two had been in an African cichlid tank and while they had reportedly laid egss, the eggs never made it thanks to the Africans making them a snack. I have them both in their own special tank with out any tank mates and this morning she has dropped eggs on the rock I put in for her! Here's to hoping they get the rest of the program right! ;)

This being my very first potential spawning I wanting to know what advice people might have with regards to cleaning the tank. I really don't want to let the tank go for to long and I suppose if it only takes 4 to 5 days to hatch that will be okay, but if I wanted to cleaning in the tank while they are working this out might it disturb them and throw everything off?

Wicked :) i'm trying to do the same....keep us updated with pics and stuff.

I don't the answer the question tho..sorry.

Keep to your normal w/c regime, just stay away from the area they are spawning, same when the eggs hatch and are free swimming, although you might want to up the amount of times you do a change as the fry grow, fresh water helps :good:

When I do my water changes and I have a batch in the tank I always look for them all first. My blue acaras are always moving the nest around once they hatch. When I see the nest I stay way from it So I don't suck up any fry. But I clean around it. It's really not that scary. Adding the née water can be tricky you don't want to blow all the fry around the tank. So just fill it with care.
