Have you tried a product called "Algaegone"? If all else fails try it. See if it works for you. The UV light will clear up your green water. I just don't know if you can justify using it for just your 29 gallon tank. UV light and the needed pump is quite an investment. I use a UV to keep my 240 near a window free from green water.

Well i will be getting the uv sterilizer one but only when it is needed. I have kept my light of for 2 days and have done several water changes - all about 80% - and the tank looks fine now. I appreciate the help.
