Hello,

This fish has been acting funny from Day 2. We're probably on day 25 or so. Tank had only cycled past the cloudy stage, about day 3 when I put him in.

Anyways, fish sits around alot, then seems to get real spunky, then sits around and breaths hard. I noticed the gills flapping and the meat behind them seeming a little red. I assume he got ammonia poisoning. I check stats with a strip and the ammonia was a skoshe' high. None of the other fish exhibited any issues, but I started treating the tank with AmQuel+ plus as well as Tetra Lifeguard All-in-One. The fish really seemed to liven up, especially after some partial water changes and ongoing treatments with this stuff. I've only been treating now for 5 days.

Now the fish is sitting around again.

Looks fungal to me, and symptoms appear fungal.

Does anyone have any treatment ideas besides the AmQuel+ and Lifeguard? I don't want this guy's issue affecting my other guys, which are all doing fine. I'd like to see the fish pull out because I don't enjoy seeing living things suffer.

Sorry I don't have water stats, but I ran out of my last test strip on Tuesday. From memory, Nitrates 0, Nitrites 0, water sorta' hard between 75 annd 150, Alkalinity about 120, PH around 8.0, Ammonia, I don't know, so I started treating based on symptoms.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.

Take a sample of your water to the lfs and ask them to write the readings down for you.

Also I would suggest in investing in some liquid test kits, as strip cards are not very accurate.

Red inflamed gills can be due to bad water quality.
Water changes daily and increase aeration, till ammonia and nitrite are 0.

The fluffy on the fish does it look like cotton wool.

The meds you are using, can you say what they are used for?
