I bought 2 green spotted puffers about 3 weeks ago. One was very sick ever since I got it from the store. It happened to die last night. My question is, will my other fish me okay to be alone? Or will I need to get another one. I do not want anything to happen to this fish and I am not sure if it really needs a tank mate.

probably better alone to be honest

I have one on itsown and it seems to get on better than when I had another as they used to bicker a fair bit which led to the others demise I suspect

oh and welcome to the forum by the way

do you have your puffer in brackish water?

Thank you!!! And yes, it is in brackish water. It was a surprise because I was not told at the store it needed it, but it is all good now!

Something which immediately jumps into my mind, perhaps unneccessarily, is how rapidly did you introduce the puffers to brackish water at home and how brackish are you keeping them?
Have you contacted the store to confirm the tank conditions they were in before you bought them?

is that to me or the OP?

The OP... I'm speculating on a too rapid transition from fresh to brakish.

Well I bought the fish at Walmart. I did not realize they were brackish fish until I did research on them. So I had actually put them into fresh water to begin with. I also only added a small amount to make the water brackish. But the fish that died had a black belly when I got it, so I am sure it was sick to begin with. But thanks for the help!
