I bought some large slabds of green slate froma garden centre which I have chisled apart into smaller peices for my new tank. Some of these have what appears to be a rust type colour on them. Are these ok to use in a tank after being soaked in boiling water?

You'll be fine just adding it to be fair - If there is a LOT of "rust" running through it - I'd avoid it personally - but its unlikely to cause problems ;)

Thanks for the advice. All the peices have been soaking for a few days to get the rubbish off them so fingers crossed its ok! The LFS wanted £2.99 per kilo for rock where i got 3 huge peices of slate for £9.00!!!
