Hi,

this is wrs brother.

I have a question. In my 55 gallon tank I have the following:

1 gourami
1 eclipse/mystus catfish
1 Julie cory
1 pleco
1 rainbow fish
1 whip tail catfish
1 rubber lip pleco
1 Rainbow shark
6 black skirt tetras
2 kribs

I want to get a green fish or two, but i dont know of any. Can anyone recomend any that are preferably not live bearers, and ones that are atleast 5 inches at adult size.
I am willing to remove the rainbow fish and the gourami.

you should get at least 6 barbs to avoid aggression, so i don't know if you can fit that many in the tank. I keep barbs and they are really interesting to watch

there would be plenty room in there for 6 green barbs

besides the gourami and 6 tetras, they're all bottom dwelling fish!

start off with 6 and see how it looks

You also need to add more corys. They need at least 3 and preferably 6.

how about
Aphyocharax rathbuni (green fire tetra)
Paracheirodon simulans (green neon tetra, aka false neon tetra)
Rasbora borapetensis (green red tail rasbora)
or
Hemigrammus caudovittatus (Buenos Aries Tetra)

I am thinking of taking the corrie for him, as I already have three.

I though a sevrum, but he said he didnt want any cichlids.

He forgot to say he had dojo loaches as well. but if the bottem gets to overstocked, as the fish are still small, I will be taking some fish to my other tanks, like the pleco to the africans.

That gourami is mine though, and I may want that for my 29, but three fish died after switching them over to there, so I dont want to risk it.

I dont know how he feels about the barbs, theyre about the same nippyness of the black skirts, no?

Ill have to tell him about that.

He could also try some brochis splendens (a.k.a. green catfish!) if some of the other bottom dwellers are going to be moving out... They are just like cories but get ever so slightly larger at just over 3".

Should also point out that rainbowfish do much better in a large group so realy, I would think about adding more or removing the one completely before adding anything else.

this rainbow fish had other mates, but he always kills them, we didnt want to anyothers. He is very aggressive to other fish, especially the kribs, he attacks them all the time.

He is like that odd otto that sucks onto angel fish. He is one mean rainbowfish.
