Thinking of getting 3 of the green dot puffers, guy at fish store said they would do just fine in our tank, it's a 55gal, we currently have 3 green severums, 3 blue gourami, 3 white gourami, 3 honey gourami, 1 yellow and 1 chocolate gourami, 3 tigar barb, 3 danios, 1 silver dollar, 3 sword tail, and 1 sucker fish, he said 3 gds would be just fine with what we have, none of the fish in the tank seem aggressive right now the gourami like to pick on each other sometimes but no other fish, what is everyone's suggestion on here??? Thanks!

No. Puffers will not work in that tank at all. Don't even bother listening to that store anymore.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe you're tank is very over stocked. And poorly stocked. Someone else will have to comment on the serverums and gouramis, but I will give a few suggestions.
If you want to keep any of your gouramis, rehome the tiger barbs. I would also rehome the silver dollar, as they need groups. Your Danios need to be in groups of 6+, and what exactly is your suckerfish? If it is a common pleco, you also need to rehome him, as they get huge. How long has your tank been running?
I'm not sure about your gouramis, as I've nerve dealt with them, but I think you'll have to rehome a fair number of them to. Just wait and see what someone else thinks though, as I'm not sure.
Glad you came here to double check. You're LFS has obviously given some bad advice unfortunately, as many of them will do. :/

I kinda felt the same with it bring a few to many fish but I was just going by what the pet store was telling we have our water tested twice a week and cycle just fine and all levels normal I think from what I read a lil last night too I'm going to pass on the puffers but now I'm worried bout it being over stocked, time to do some more reading

You already have waaaay too many fish for a 55 Gal anyway. 55 gallin is the minimum requirement A pair of severums let alone 3 with everything else you have.

Most fish stores are notorious for givin out false info. They will tell you any fish are compatible or any fish will fit in your tank just to get a sale and it's really sad.

Also tiger barbs should be in groups of 6 or more. Around 10 being a good number. This eases aggression as they have a reputation of being "nippy" fish.
And it's not (as far as I know) advisable to have different types of gourami in the same type. Gold gourami and blue (opaline) Gourami are among the more agressive types.

What sucker fish is it you have?

Just joined the website last night and already learned Alot, not going to listen to our local store about the fish any more, looking into re homing some of them and gonna see which gourami are male and females too, didnt know that was a issue before I got on here and fish store didn't think that it matter either but what I've read that is a issue too, thanks for the input and the quick reply, and came to the conclusion time for another tank a bigger one at least 100gal + :hyper:

Yes there is lots to learn on here and so many people with a lot of knowledge and experience that are more than happy to help.

I started off with a 10 gal, then a 30, then 40, then 46, 55 and now I'm on 125.

August il be getting a 180.

Iv sold some but I will still have a 40 gal, 125 and 180 :) that will do lol

This 55 that we have now is our first tank, I wanted to get around a 80 but gf said no! Now she also wants another tank, prolly go least twice what we have now, and get a smaller 30-40gal bow front tank and do salt water in it, I'll post a pic later in my sig of tank we have now
