The cloudy water i figure its just a mini cycle

As for the green water I think its just too much nutrients in the water, but I tried to fast my fish and its still not clearing up. It could be that I'm overstocked too. But anyways, any way to clear it up? Been like this for a week.

Ive been doing a lot of small water changes like 15% of water every few days. should i try doing like 80% water changes for a week?

Are you testing with strips, or if a liquid-based test kit is it out of date? Are you following all the instructions for performing the nitrate test part? What wattage lights are over the tank and how many hours do you keep them on? Is there ever any sunlight hitting the tank? Has anything happened that might have caused your tank/filter to cycle?

I think answers to these might be a start for the experts if/when they arrive to help in the morning...

also what size is the tank and what fish do you have in it?

Green water is caused by excess nutrients in the water. It's actually free floating algae that are feeding off the nutrients (or is the tank sitting in the sun?) If it isn't too much light then it is definately nutrients. To fix this problem turn off the tank lights and block out the sun for 3 days. On the third day do a 50% water change with a 50% water change every 2 days until it clears up.

I had that issue when I first set up my 30 gallon tank but not my others. I just did 30% water changes every day for a week and a half or so until it cleared up.
