How do you deal with your brackish tank that gets large amount of green algae? There are no brackish algae eating fish or snails, right?

Nerite snails, American Flag Fish, Mollies will all eat algae

you can also add some plants that will out compete the algae. Check out the pinned topic on Planting a Brackish Aquarium

I know Mollies aren't comaptible with the puffers I have (fig8 & gsp's). What about the flag fish?

Where can I purchase the nerite snails that are brackish?

I'd say that the Flagfish would be your best bet for hair algaes, and Nerites for slime-like microalgaes. However, not only are both of those animals incompatible with your figure-eight/GSP, but both of your puffer species are also incompatible. The reason is salinity requirements at maturity.

Green Spotted Puffer = Mid/High-End Brackish
Figure Eight Puffer = Low-End Brackish

The only exception would be if your GSP was misidentified as a Ceylon Puffer(aka Green Puffer), which does occassionally happen, which are said to be capable of living in a vast range of salinities. This type of situation is a common novice mistake that will at some point need to be addressed.

If your having a lot of algae growth it may be caused be the tpye of lighting you have/ leaving lights on too long. You may also want to check your nitrates.

Just a thought :)

Also try using RO water instead of tap water. It's not very expensive and contains no nitrates or phosphates. This combined with excellent water husbandry and the proper cleaning inverts will knock out algae quite effectively. I'd look into having your tap water tested for phosphates, it's not at all uncommon to have them occuring in tap water.

I purchased 2 fig8's & 2 gsps about 2 yrs ago and they have been together in my brackish tank ever since. They get along remarkably well which is a huge surprise. GSPs are considerably bigger than the fig8s but never bullies them around. My initial intention was to eventually separate the gsp's into a marine tank.
