The other day I ordered a new internal filter online (I posted a query about it in the Hardware section of the forum). The filter is a MAGI-200 and it said in the ad "suitable for 1 - 2ft tanks".
Anyway, filter arrived today (along with several free gifts of a glass thermometer, spare filter sponge/charcoal and a 10cm net).
What a super cute little filter it is! Only 5" x 1.5" x 1". Not suitable for a 2ft tank in my opinion - but fantastic for up to a 1ft betta tank. Actually, have just checked the side of the box and I was right - the Magi-200 is for up to 40litre tanks, with a flow of 200L/H at 5w power.
Inside it has sponge filter compartment and on top of that a little bag of charcoal (which I will remove and replace with the other spare sponge filter). It also has a mini spray bar that can be attached, if needed, although my betta doesn't like much turbulance in his tank so I probably won't add that on, unless I try facing it towards the back of the tank.
Anyway, just thought I'd post this in case anyone out there is looking for a filter unit to buy for a betta tank. The MAGI-200 is ideal and very cheap to buy (I paid £5.99). So there's no excuse really for anyone not to have a proper filter in their betta tank!
I will let it run/cycle in one of my tanks so that I can then use it as either a back-up in emergencies, or maybe I'll let my male betta have it in his tank as his current filter could do with upgrading to a better one.
