Afternoon all,
Recently set up tank of communal fish, of which I have 3 khuli loaches that I think are to active and distract you. I am thinking of setting up a seperate tank specifically for them. I have a spare tank with an undergravel filter that I am going to use but was wondering if in fact gravel would be best.
Would I be better to use something else?
If so what?
Heres a pic of my tank.

UGF have varied opinions. some say they are fine but when they need cleaned it means ripping out everything from the tank which would stress the fish

UGF's tend to not offer very good filtration are can be difficult to clean, they're pretty old fashioned by the standards of most filters today- khuli loaches have also been known to get trapped in UFG's.

Personally i would advise a sand substrate and a different form of filtration as sand substrate is much better for khuli loaches as it is easier for them to feed off and is also easier to keep clean  .
