Gouramis

Hi

I have a gouramis which lost its mate a while ago. Would it be OK to introduce a new one in my tank.

Best to quarantine first. If he has been infected with something then you only have to treat him.

You may also want to make sure of why the other one died, as there might be something going on with the tank. As well as rearranging decor when adding the new one.

In addition to what has been said...
 
What species of gourami?  Do you have a male or female now?  Male gourami are territorial, some species very much so, so you need to be careful as a new male for instance might not be tolerated by the present male who would deem the entire tank "his."  Also, some species are best with 2 or 3 females to a male, some are fine with a pair, some do well in a group.
