i have been keeping a pearl gourami with platys and guppys in a 20 gl tank and im currently setting up a 40gl tank. would a blue gourami get along with a pearl gourami and a female betta

Should get on with the pearl but it's a very bad idea keeping it or any gouramis with Bettas labrymth fish get a wee bit aggressive with other type of labrymth fish so no bettas

I agree with Liquid Skills, no Betta with Gouramis. He's probably get torn up by a Blue or Opaline Gourami.

I keep a Pair of Pearl Gouramis with a single female Opaline and they get along fine. They might not if the Opaline was a male so I wouldn't suggest adding any male Three Spot Gouramis to a tank with Pearl Gouramis in it. As it is my Opaline female chases the male Pearl around sometimes and I can only imagine if that female was a male! I would also try to add a female Blue, Gold or Opaline that's a bit smaller than the Pearls so the new fish won't feel too bold.

BTW, if that's a 40 gallon "breeder" tank it's perfect for Gouramis! It has a very long footprint which is better than having more depth, like I have.

Oops! I re read your post & now realize you were talking about a female Betta. That might work since the females are not as aggressive as the males, it's a tougher call. I would maybe try it & see how it goes as long as the fish store will take the new fish back if it's not working out.

ive had my girls with my gours but they always have their stress stripes so it wont be fair on the girl although the girl bettas can also be just as aggressive but normaly arnt :) but still not advisable

ok thanks everyone. could i keep maybe like 4 feamle bettas together with guppies and platys and mollies
