My honey gouramis are making babies :hyper: I noticed one was making a bubble nest but I didn't think anything of it because I thought they were both males! I figured he was just showing off territory or something. but today I actually caught them mating, they keep going at it!! the female is only releasing a few eggs at a time which the male collects and puts in the nest. He is very caring continualy looking after the nest and adding new bubbles to it. Im assuming the eggs/fry wont last very long with the male betta in the tank but he doesn't even seem bothered, he's just swimming around minding his own business. The male gourami keeps gulping air, going under the nest and it fizzes out of his gills.. is that normal?? Very exciting!! :D

i think it is normal, i have a 2 yr old pearl lace, and ive soon come to learn he is a male. last night he started making a nest for the first time ever! now i havent changed much with the tank, i recently moved him to a new home, then i treated him with multi cure, for any disease or fungal problems, he has lived alone with on other fish just a algee eater for the past two years, I did have a second pearl i got at the same time as him, but that one diead within a year maybe less :( but last week i decide to buy a friend for him as he seems so lonley, i brought home a young, rainbow fish, that looks like a kind of gouriami, the pet shop said it is a relation to them, well and i added a larger air stone, so increased oxegon, and during the disease treatment i rasied my heater to 27 - 28 to help kill and parisites. so maybe he is really happy?

Does he need to breed with another pearl I dont know.
ill be reaserching on wht i have to do all day.
:) but yes sorry i cant help to much, im new to it to. keep a eye out for my posts! :)

Deal with them pretty much the same way as one does with bubble nesting bettas.

The air bit is how bubbles get made :)

I have a three gouramis one being a large male and the other two are female i have had the larger male for a while and recently introduced the two females but they are constantly being bullied by the larger male. i have also introduced some large plants hoping they may breed is this normal for the male to be such a bully to the females?? and will they breed if they dont get on ?? my tank is 4.5foot long will they ever stop fighting??
