Well this is my first post and i was just wondering if 2 male gouramis (i think they are male) would be fine in a 29 gallon community tank.
In my tank i also have 1 angelfish (going to buy anther) and 1 comet goldfish and 2 crayfish. they all seem to be getting along but just one of my gouramis chases the other. He doesnt mind any of the other fish in the tank or the crayfish but its just the other gourami.

what type of gourami?

the comet does not belong in tank this size - really should be in a pond

No fish should be kept with crayfish - crayfish WILL try to eat them.

1 is a gold gourami and the other is in a opaline. the opaline is chasing the gold gourami.

and yea the comet was my sisters choice to have.
and the crayfish and all the other fish seem to be fine. the fish swim by the crayfish all the time and the crayfish doesnt mind them.

I'm not too sure about opalines and gold....hopefully someone else will help.

The cray probably is not fast enough to get them during the day, but when they are resting at night then the cray will take any oppurtunity it gets. Crayfish should really be kept in a species only tank.

can you tank the gold fish and the cray back to the shop?

the cray fish are wild that i fount in a creek so i dont think the pet store would take them
and the goldfish seems to enjoy it. its been tanked sence it was little so the fish and myself are a little attached
but thanks for the try with the gouramis.....they seem to be claming down just a bit.

if they came from the wild then you should not try to put them back there - it's a possibility that they may have picked up a 'foreign' bug or parasite from the fish and introducing that to the wild might be devastating.....if highly unlikely.

The only thing I can recommend is more tanks and seperate them that way.

thanks for the advise. ive only had the crayfish for about 4 days do you think it is still to late?

Yes, as soon as something is removed from it's natural habitat and put in your aquarium, it shouldn't be returned.

ok good cause i was thinking the same. i think i will have to just put those guys in a separate tank?
but i was think about getting a blue crayfish(or a blue lobster) would that be a problem to have in a tank with fish. none of the fish will be small in size like neon tetras and etc.

no lobsters, crays, crabs or shrimp with big claws should be placed in a tank with fish. It's simply asking for trouble.

Our blue crayfish/lobster is an eating machine and growing FAST. I don't think he'd have any problems at all munching on a few fish, he can move like lightning when he wants to.

About the only 'safe' crayfish for a community tank is the Mexican Orange Dwarf Cray. It stays very small, but I don't think I would even try that one with shrimp and smaller catfish.

yeah my dad was telling me about his blue lobster and i might get one(but im going to keep him with anther lobster)
and feeding the lobster fish or other food would be better>?
