Right now i have opaline gouramis but i really like pearls and i wanted to know if i could keep them in a 30 gallon tank with 6 tiger barbs. The barbs really dont bother anyone now except for each other and swim in a school.

So will Pearls work out good and will they be nice and active like my opalines are now?

thanks in advance

No. Tiger barbs may not be nippy towards your current fish but pearls develop fin ray extensions and are often irresistable targets for nippers. Also, if you are talking about the same tank as your opalines are in, no other gouramies should be added at all.

no i want to take the opalines out. I know to only put one kind of gourami per tank.

Hmm i guess ill have to look for another center piece. Anyone got any ideas.

You could try a different gourami species - maybe a trio of banded gouramies (Colisa fasciata - 1 male, 2 females)?

What else is in your tank? Perhaps you might want to consider some cichlids such as a pair of kribs/pulcher or maybe an RTBS, rainbow shark or flying fox. American-flag fish would also work. Same with most larger livebearers such as swordtails.

Well my stocking now is gonna be moved around a lot but the final stocking will be

6 tiger barbs
2 mollys or 3 rainbow fish (havent decided which im gonna keep but i think the mollys
3 corys
3 oto cats

and then im looking to add a good center piece fish which i want suggestions for. Anyone got any ideas of what will work best in this tank as a center piece?

Yes you can keep different colors - they are all exactly the same species.
