Hi, a while ago I posted about my gourami, she's a variety of the blue gourami but really white. I was told she in good breeding condition, and she was full of eggs (because I was worried she was a fatty  ). She's still the same old fatty. I've even put her with another blue gourami who I think is male but she gets along with very very well anyway (they slide bodies together, turn into each other, groom  each other) might be love. Anyway. NO change in her size. Is there a risk like with female bettas - if they don't drop eggs they can get sick and die. She's constantly doing laps of my 2 foot tank I have them in (they are in no means full grown up against my other gouramis in other tanks.)

Is she OK? I've grown attached to her and I'd hate to lose her to something like this.

Thanks in advance, Xanthia :)

Is she pale because she isn't well or is she just a platinum? Yes, there is a danger of her becoming egg bound but this, IME, is very unlikely in three-spot gouramies. Is she mature? Fully grown? The fish you think is male... what about him? Is he fully grown? Also, is he a platinum like her as well (assuming she is a platinum) or is he a different color morph? Some three-spots, I have found, will more readily spawn with fish of the same color but get along better with fish of a different color. I would just watch her carefuly - honestly, I think she'll drop any eggs on her own.

She's definately a platinum, she doesn't show any ill health signs to me...
No, she isn't fully grown and either is the blue gourami (the one she's kind of paired up with - he does appear male, thinner body, sharper coudral fin), they are actually about the same size, half sized compared to my big blue. About 5 cms tops.
Thank you for all your good info, now I KNOW she is a platinum, something I always wondered about - she was sold to me as a moonlight, but I knew from pics and from her that fins were too different, not to mention scales!!!!
She's been like this for several weeks, but her behaviour is consistant always, and she seems healthy, no discolouration (not that there could be much). Her "innards" are very white and rounded with blue streaks like veins. Her body is white most of the time but she "reflects" background colour, purple or gold as per light or background in different tanks.
I hope they have 'paired' up, they make each other happy either way.
So, nothing to worry about just hoping she'll lose the eggs or maybe its a 'feminine' bulge?
:D
