Welcome to the forums
Firstly after 1 week your tank would not be ready to stock fish as this would mean you would be completing a fish in cycle which is very hard work and usually requires several large (50% or more) water changes per day otherwise the fish will die in their own waste. Basically you will need to build up the efficiency of the filter before you add fish, this can be done by fishless cycling see this link

Fishless cycling can take around 4-6 weeks so it requires alot of patience but is worth it in the long run.
OK now thats said I'll try helping with your question.
In another post someone has just posted that their gourami is being bullied by their barbs, unfortunately if a fish is bullied it usually becomes so stressed that it dies. Barbs are notorious fin nippers and if you get them it would be advisable to stay away from fish like angels, guppies, bettas and any other long finned fish.
With regards to dwarf gourami's, they are very sickly fish and are not a good idea for a newly set up tank, ideally you should add them after 6 months but even then you may have trouble keeping them alive

I really want some but at the moment I know they are not a great idea as my tank is not mature enough.
I would highly recommend a group of Zebra danios once your tank is cycled, they are very active, hardy fish and although in the LFS they looked a bit drab they soon grew up and became my favourite fish whizzing around the tank. I have a group of 5 but I would say 6 of more is best
Hope this info helps, I would also suggest you go to the newbie forum as you dont tend to get alot of replies in here and in there the like of Miss Wiggle and Waterdrop will help you through your fishless cycle and all the other members will advise you on which fish to get.
