Hi
I really hope some one can help me I have come home from work to find my gourami with an open would on his side. He is about 4cm and this wound is about 5mm in diameter; don't think I have a bully in the tank so I really don't know how it happened - I just want to try and make it pain free for him and hopefully heal it.

Thank you in anticpation.

Hi s4mmy :)

Welcome to the forum!

Does this wound look more like a cut from an injury or just an open sore?

Thanks for the replies.

I called my fish supplier and he suggested the fish may have got a blister from the heater which made sense to me because that is what the injury looked like - he suggested a medicine which I couldn't get but managed to get Melafix which I have used since last Thursday. The fish had been doing Ok and the wound looked like it was getting smaller.

I noticed the fish swelling on the opposite side but put it down to the injury, tonight he is completed bloated - I don't think this is good he is currently gasping near the surface. My red tailed black shark who is normally quite placid is nibbling at the wound he is not re-opening the wound but it doesn't seem like nice behaviour.

Poor Big Blue he has done so well over the last week am I going to lose him now?

I hate this inexperience I just wish I could make this better for Big Blue.

have you got a spare tank that you can put him in to treat him until he is recovered as this will help
