Gourami Sick?

Not eating can be stress. Also it can mean bacterial infection, internal parasites.
I would say stress so I would soak his food in garlic juice to stimulate his appetite.
Keep a look out for when your fish go to the toilet.

I have good news at last! The Blue Dwarf gourami has started eating! :hyper: He appears to be quite timid but I was away today and found a Pets at Home store. I bought pellets for medium to bottom feeding fish. The pellets fell to the bottom close to him. It took him a while but he started picking them off the substrate, he would spit them out sometimes but then eat it again. Hopefully over the next few days he will start to eat more and become less timid.

I also added 3 new real plants as only had plastic ones before, all the fish seem to love them, swimming amongst them with the Betta resting on them so maybe that is having an effect as well? How do real plants effect the well being of fish?

Anyway I'm happy and relieved now.

Glad to here that the fish is eating! :hyper:

I am not sure how the plants will effect the fish, but I do know that the plants will help with the water parameters.

Plants will "absorb" ammonia and NitrAtes, so you will begin to notice that your NitrAte readings are going to be less now.

I have Live plants in my tank, and at the end of each week when I do water changes, I only have 5 ppm of NitrAte in my tank, as the plants use a lot of the NitrAtes up themselves.
