I have 4 gourami's in my tank. Now that I know more about the sexing of these fish I think I have 3 males and 1 female. They get along alright but the males do annoy the female with attention (not nipping just like to go by her close and some times give the male attention with a side turn if that makes sense) She gets annoyed and goes and hides for a while.
I was wondering if I added another female if this would help.
I have a 55 gal tank with some other fish all pretty calm and cool with each other.
Like I said they're not hurting her, and she is active when she is out, playing in the bubbles is one of her favorite things to do when I turn them on. Just wondering if it would help the dynamics.
The males don't bother each other 2 kind of stick together, the other roams around.
Advice please

P.S.
They are dwarf gourami's, sorry forgot to mention that (2 regular red with blue stripe, 1 blue with red stripes and 1 female (I think) powder blue)

no one said anything about that when I bought them and I think they carry mostly male because of the colors. I didn't know when I bought them about the ratio at all. Now I am just trying to keep everyone happy, like I said the female is out a fair amount but I don't know if they go through mating cycles or what. Anyway still wondering if another female would be good. I don't want to buy too many more just one maybe.

they would carry more males then females for color reasons, my lfs's are same way, but for most gouramis, including dwarfs, they recommend 1male 2-3 female ratio.. i would consider returning 1-2 males, but if not, at the very least buy more females yes. they may be tolerant of eachother for a short time, but there is a high chance there will be problems. it could be males stressing the female out., but also can become males fighting. i learned this with opaline gouramis, which have a similar problem. was unaware of the situation as it was my first tank, lfs didnt tell me, 3 weeks later i had a dead opaline...

Definately agree, atleast 1-2 ratio. Otherwise it can cause the female to become stressed and possibly catch an illness or die.
