My gourami has a sore on his left side. I do have an angel fish in the tank who I have seen nip him before. It looks like a little blood under his skin. he seems fine and eats and swims around.just curious if this could be a type of illness as I recently had a zebra die of dropsy. I thought it was pregnant but after researching it, I found out it was dropsy. So the gourami has a sore on his side just curious if I am paranoid after the zebra issue, or if it could just be from the angel fish. thanks/

Need stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Its bacterial the sore, is in pink or red with a circling of dead white skin around it.
The bleeding underneath is septicemia and once it has progressed it hard to cure.
Can you isolate the fish as it will need a bacterial med to stand a chance if it's not already to late.

dont know current stats but allpassed last week when I cleaned the tank , it is red under sore and it does look white around sore, thanks.how can I stop this if its not too late? its a 30 gallon 4 tetras, 3 neons, 1 gourMI, 1 angel, and a molly, and a bottom feeder.

If it's septicaemia, that is indeed a killer. But it could also be some sort of ulcer. I have a cory, who developed similar symptom 4 or 5 months ago- we discussed it on this forum and decided she wasn't long for this world- but she is still swimming happily around the tank.
If this were my tank, I would do a water change and then treat with pimafix+melafix. Good luck!

can you tell me if the melafix and the other are safe for the other fish or will I have to seperate the sick one. thanks for the help.

For septicemia you really need a stronger med than melafix.
Always best to issolate a sick fish as with septicemia the bacteria can release into the tank.
Don't no your location for a med.

"melafix and the other" presumably means "melafix and pimafix".

Pimafix is quite a bit stronger than melafix, and both should be safe for other fish, but the sick fish is best isolated for reasons stated by Wilder.
