I have a Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami...I think thats what he is anyway...he was living in my community tank until he became ill...he had a wound on his side...I moved him to a QT...and treated with melafix....this was about 2 weeks ago...he is doing really well, and seems to love being in the tank on his own...anyway came home today to a lovely bubble nest. it is really thick...he has made an excellent job of it...incorporating some little plant leaves in it too.....I have taken a pic...but unfortuantely cannot post it in here...what a shame...I think he is happy in the tank on his own...I was thinking of moving him back to the original tank he was in...but he seems suited in the QT...lol.....I read somewhere that making bubble nests is a sign of a happy fish is this correct?

Gosh feel sad taking pics of a bubble nest, but I was well impressed.....!

Their are amazing things and it funny that a fish builds them, but next your be thinking of breeding them, :)
However breeding is retaliative easy but rearing the fry is near on impossible unless you research and get some specialist live foods.

LOL helterskelter...yep it is pretty amazing...just frustrated I cannot show a pic in this section....well I have enough on my plate at the moment, with platy, molly and corydora fry....would love to try breeding them....but with you saying rearing the fry is near on impossible...maybe not a good idea?

The fry of these fish are tiny and need the smallest of live foods like inforsoria(spelling), micro eel, brine shrimp.
But it's fun to try, I've breed them several time's and never raised any fry yet!!!!

LOL thats a beast of a nest....... He's a happy chapi guess now

If you have BBS, you should be able to rear the fry. It is like betta fry rearing.

Not at all, DG's fry are tiny much smaller that betta fry (even then betta fry can only eat BBS from day 3-5 or so) you need the microscopic foods for at least the first 10-12 days with DG's. Course though with a well established tank their will be some natural microscopic foods already there.

Thats a massivly thick nest. Good luck if your going to try breeding :good:

Thanks....yeah the nest was very thick...it was nearly going over the top of the tank....it is still there today and he has extended it....brought it out right into the middle of the tank...aarrgghhhh...would love to breed but not sure I have the time at the moment!

have you decided if you are going to try breeding?
