Gourami Has Eggs And Are Probably Going To Die

i have 2 female dwarf gourami and one male both of my female gourami have been looking pregnant for 3 and 1 day(s) now and just getting bigger
plus to which my male won't build a nest!!!! and my females have been hiding in a cave for a few days and only come out to eat
are they pregnant? if so then how long are gourami pregnant for?
my male is stubborn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my babies will all die help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

dont worry about the babies as there will be non.
they lay eggs into the nest
do a quick serch and you will find the full file on them on this forum explaining alot ( or try wiki)

my male tends to start a nest every few days but then gives up?
maybe coz i have some currnet in the tank or maybe coz there is no floating plants who knows?

My male Gourami is the same.

I do have floating plants so he has plenty of choice when it comes to a location for his bubble nest.
He'll spend 3-4 days making one and then get bored and give up.

Changing the current from the filter makes no difference to his habits - he'll build or not build depending
on his mood at the time and what he feels like. Actually, he sounds more like a woman, eh?

Don't worry about it - the females lay eggs in the nest once the bubble nest has been built so if there is
no nest, they wont lay!

It could be an eggy female but i'd certainly consider dropsy a possibility. Keep an eye out for raised scales to be certain.
