Gourami Dying But Cant Die.

my gourami is in some serious trouble. i noticed one day he was swimming VERY awkwardly. then a little while later, i found he couldnt swim at all! now, his eyes have gone crooked and hes dying, but cant die! now all he does is laying on the bottom of the tank.....comepletely helpless....i dont know what to do!

he is a dwarf blue gourami. but its strange, none of the other fish are affected.

same sort of thing happened to one of me honeys the other day, got home was swimming in circles sort of spazzing then was alive for a good few hours not moving (put it in a net in the tank) then died finally, everything else is fine

ok. i couldnt get the test results because, i couldnt go to petsmart, and i dont have a kit. sorry. i dont know here to buy them. and stubert mentioned his gourami swimming in circles and then lying at the tank bottom. that is EXACTLY was my gourami did. but strange, hes been like this for almost 2 weeks! and i did the water change. didnt do anything.

Definately, as it would lower the amount of Ammonia in the water (if it is Ammonia that caused it)

Water changes are pretty much the only thing you can do other than adding mature media to a filter. Chemicals and such don't work well.

You can choose to end his suffering. I know it's not an easy thing to do but it's the right thing. You can put him in a container with tank water and slowly add clove oil. More specifics on how to do this can be found online. Just google euthanizing fish with clove oil. There are other methods like putting in the freezer, and decapitating but I personally have a hard time with these methods. If you don't want to do it, maybe there is someone else you know that could do it for you?
