I found my male gourami dead today :( .. I saw him this morning and he was doing great, eating and everything, when i got back from work he was dead, he had red spots all over his body, they were not bites from the other fishes, just red spots like hickeys.. What happen? He got sick in about 7 hours and died?

Are you sure they weren't there before?

There's also a good chance those red marks were inflicted after he died by the other fish. Some gouramies (was he a dwarf?) are particularly prone to suddenly 'dropping dead' for no apparent reason. Usualy it's something stress-related (test your water parameters and maybe revise your stocking) but newly-added fish may also be harbouring something from the LFS.

Sorry for your loss :(

he was a blue gourami, im afraid its some type of disease, could it spread to other fish?

Blue gouramies are very hardy fish that they can be aggressive. Do you have any others in this tank? What sexes? What other fish are in it, how many and how big is the tank?

The reason I doubt it's a disease is because it appeared so suddenly - that's why I asked whether you are certain you simply overlooked the red marks before.

If it's a disease, it can deffinately get passed on to the other fish. But there is no use treating without knowing what it is - it may not even have been a disease after all! All you can do is lots of frequent water changes and to watch your remaining fish closely for any symptoms.

im pretty sure its a disease because some are getting this white spots all over there bodies, nad i looked closely tody and there white things all over the aquarium, im gonna to clean every square inch of the tank now,do i need to get any type of medice for the other infected fis?

What sort of white spots? Do they look like salt grains? If so, this isn't what killed your gourami but you still need to treat it. It is called ich and is a protozoan parasite. You need to buy a med. that says it treats whitespot/ich/ick.

If it is something else, please don't rush to clean out the tank yet - what exactly do you mean by this anyway? Its not a good idea to disassemble everything and wash them out as you'll cause a re-cycle (ammonia and nitrite spikes). This'll almost certainly kill your fish.

Can you get a picture of the white spots? Also, what temperature is your tank's water at?

its ich, not sure what kill the gourami but now some of them have ich,ive bought a medicine, ill c what happens..
