Hey so I just fed my fish and every one was eating happily.
about half an hour later mi blue gourami was bullying my angelfish so i moved him into my other smaller tank. 5 minutes later i was snuggled up in bed and i hear it tap against the plastic lid (it just lays on top not fully connected. I freaked out because my last sick gourami did this and it died an hour later. So i rush over and he's fine- just throwing a temper tantrum because i turned out the lights. So I turn the lights back out again and 5 minutes later i hear him bang against the glass again. I get nervous so I run over and this time he's lying on the floor and trying to shoot up out of the bowl. I put him back in my big tank to see if it was just stress because he's was fine only 40 minutes ago. He died only a few minutes later.
I know gouramis have horrible immune systems, so if I do possibly get one in the future (unlikely because every gourami i've had has died within 2 months of ownership), I want to know why this is happening and what I can do to stop it.
Thanks!

RIP Patrick <3

I have always had problems with mine dying, never been able to keep one for more than a month. I have tried treating them for different things but they never make it. I refuse to get another. They are almost always sick when you buy them and end up stop eating, becoming lethargic and passing away :( I would move on with them.

Just how small was this bowl? It sure sounds like putting him in there lead to his demise, since you said he was normal and bullying your Angel minutes before. Sounds like he got stresed and dashed against the sides. Fish don't throw temper tantrums, they just react to whatever happens to them the only way they know how. Yah, if you take a decent sized fish and plop it in a small bowl or tank, it's going to freak out. I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish by putting him in there. Some kind of punishment? That won't work to stop an aggressive/territorial fish. Personally, I find Blue Gouramis to be quite hardy. Now Dwarf Gouramis are another subject.......

What were the conditions/sizes/fish of both tanks? You really shouldn't put even small ones in under a 10 gal...But it might have been PH/temp shock. If you just set up the tank before putting him in, perhaps you forgot to dechlorinate the water?
