Hi,
I'm new to the world of aquarist,
I've started not to long ago when my dad gave me one of his aquariums
A 150Gallon one not 150L but 150 G (yes its huge)
and so far i have plants and 4 gouramis
2 opaline and 2 pearl
I have 2 question 1st,
how do i know if a gourami is male or female? I would like to have 2 female and 1 male for each species
And 2nd,
Can i put clown loaches, Tiger barb, sharks, catfish and plecos in my aquarium.
would they live in a community safely?
Thank for your time and for you help!

I don't know how to sex opalines but male pearl gouramis have long mouths sort of like a fox nose. Clown loaches should be ok but get a shoal of them, 4-6. If you want a shark then i'd recommend a rainbow shark (ruby shark) as they are less agressive than RTBS, put the shark in last though so the other fish are already settled in. If you want tiger barbs i would recommen getting at least 6 maybe 8 so that they don't bother the gouramis. I would recommend a bristlenose catfish as they eat alot of algae, also if you can,get an adult bristlenose as they have a very slow growth rate. What filter do you have? Because if you want a pleco then you should get a good filter as they produce alot of poo.
I hope this has helped.

With Gouramis the male tends to have a longer pointed dorsal fin while the females have shorter, rounder ones. My opalines paired up and bullied the third (a female) so could be better to stick to 2 pairs.

You have plenty of space but keep an eye on the opalines for being a bit aggressive, mine never were but they do have a reputation for being a bit bolshy. If you are having gouramis then have some floating plants - when I had mine this helped encourage spawning (although in a community I never got fry)

Your list has a lot of bottom dwellers which could cause problems. what sort of catfish did you have in mind? What sort of plecs? Personally I'd leave out the sharks, certainly I'd think carefully about not overloading the bottom.

Tiger barbs will look gorgeous in a big school - 15 or so and maybe another largish school of something else.

thanks to you guys :)

Today i brought 6 tiger barbs, they seemed really playful and not agressive but sometimes 2 of them seperate from the school i guess its normal and when i close the light they all get seperated and hide in the smallest spot they can

i also brought 2 rosy barbs ( 1 PINK but small 2'' ) and ( 1 beige but big 3'' ) they seem calm but sometime the big one try to chase the tiger barbs school but mostly hide between plant of behing rocks
