Gourami And Snail Friends?

I hope this hasn't already been asked but I was wondering if anyone is successful with adding snails with a gourami. I have a blue gourami who is still quite small. My tank is 20 gallons and I just recently added two gold mystery snails to help eat away some algae. However, my gourami keeps nipping at them. I have another tank set up for the snails just in case - I'm just waiting on a heater. But it seems like he is starting to leave them alone.

Will he leave them alone after a while or will this be a problem from now on. I know snails antennas and what-not grow back but I'll feel horrible if he hurts one of the snails regardless.

I've also thought about added some females thinking that this would keep him occupied. would that work or create more nipping and would they have to be the same species?

Hi, about a month ago I put 5 nerite snails in my 240L with 3 pearl gouramies and I don't think the pearls have noticed them yet. Going to get some more snails when back in stock. Hopefully yours will settle down soon.
