I have an albino paradise, and I picked up a red flame gourami last week. ( yeh I know that was probably stupid since I thought I heard they don't do well together, lol, of course, this was after) I had my gf's angel in the tank because it was getting beat up by the tiger barbs and convicts in her tank. The angel is pretty big, maybe like 4 inches. when I put the gourami in, the angel started picking on it and the paradise, which it had been fine with prior to this. The gourami had been hiding out in the cave and in the plants pretty much all the time. I finaly got the angel out and into another tank, but after a day the gourami was still hiding. The paradise, who had started hiding a bit as well wasn't hiding very much anymore. Then last night I noticed the gourami on it's side, dying. This morning he was dead. I thought it might have been stress from the angel, but my gf ( who has tons of fish experience- I really should start listening to her more) said it was probably from the Paradise. SO I am going to bring in the dead guy to the LFS to return it but not sure if they'll just try to give me another gourami. I really did want a gourami, but obviously if I can't I can't. But I was just wondering if anyone had experience with or knows of a gourami( preferably dwarf as it's a 30 gal) that might be compatible. IF not, what else could I add to the tank to give it some color that would get along with the paradise. Here's what is in there as of now:
1 albino paradise
1 chocolate pleco (only about 2 inches or so...for now)
1 albino BN pleco
7 gold pristella tetras
8 serpae tetras
2 albino corys
1 cory melini
4 cherry barbs
5 harlequin rasporas
Note- I do know I need to add a few more corys and maybe a couple more barbs and rasporas, but I also don't want to overstock. I just wanted one single fish that would add some color.
