i was in my lfs today and bought some intrepet freeze dried brine shrimp. they are in little cubes and when i added it to tank it just floated there and now it stuck to filter. my fish havent even looked at it and was wondering do the brine shrimp hatch if they arent ate as i have heard about there eggs being dormant for years in wild

hi. yeah i've got some of this. i think it's the one your talking about - a smallish box with a white bag inside and the actual food is brown cubes. my fish all seem to go for it but i don't use it too much as it's quite messy (makes water cloudy.) how much did u add? you need a very small amount and i find it best to break it up ever so small and then it just seems to break up even more so on it's own. i find it does disperse the and makes the water very cloudy at first.
i have no idea about the hatching but i wouldn't have thought they'd hatch would they?

i just dropped the cube in didnt know you had to break it up. not sure about hatching but anything is possible in a fish tank

Hatching is not possible :).

They require salt water to hatch (brine), the cubes probably don't contain any loose eggs, and if they did the freeze-drying process might have destroyed them (eggs can survive freeze drying, but not sure to what extent).

If you are going to go the Brine Shrimp Route, then shoot for Frozen. My fish are more attracted to it. Also, what kind of fish are you feeding it to?

no no and no you cannot put a whole frozen
block in it will harm you fish.
put the brinesrimp in a glass and add some
of your tank water and wait for it to dissolve
then your fish should be attracked to it
if not buy some bloodworm.

ok thank you for your help

my fish love freeze dried brine shrimp, i break the cube in half them press it on side of glass below water line the fish notice it more than if its floating, then it doesn't break up til the fish start eating it, its not the same as frozen brine shrimp and is safe to feed the fish.
