I've decided to try my hand at keeping and possibly breeding some Zebra Plecs. I've wanted them for ages, but never found any/didn't have money/space etc. etc. anyway, the time was just right, and I popped into a shop today and they had some for £60 each, so I asked if they would do 2 for £100, he said £105(?!!) so I paid £52.50 for each of these 2 little stunners.
If anyone can sex them , then let me know!!

Got a few pics of them in their bag first:

Once I let them go they hid pretty quickly, but I did get a couple of shots off first!!:

Anyway, that is all I could get for now. I'll post more as and when I get them. Hope you like!!!

Wow, an absolute bargain, can you please tell me where you got them? And if they have anymore? I am in search of them that cheap, they are £150 each at my LFS...

Absolutely beautiful plecs RVM! I've always liked them, their stripes are so stunning.

The first pectoral fin ray of the male is somewhat thicker than that of the female. Males in breeding condition further develop their spine-like "odontodes" on this ray. The male has a slightly broader head than the female, best observed from above.

Truly Stunning Pl*co's

Damn you I had the lime Light for a Day with My Sultan. :p

I absolutly love zebra plecs, just wish they weren't so darn expensive. very nice fish you have there.

Absolutely stunning! :hyper:
And I can speak for the general who love plecs...
I AM JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
Good for you! You must be totally pleased!
Good luck with the breeding
Congradutlations

Beautiful,I love them  If you really, really want to try breeding them you should go get two or three more. The odds of getting a breeding pair out of the two may be pretty slim and you should take advantage of it while you can. Who needs groceries anyway? The telephone is waay over-rated too, you could do away with that for a few months :p

I'm going to get another 4 over time, but these 2 will have to do for now. I just couldn't resist them with that price tag!!!!

Absolutley Stunning

I'm going to get another 4 over time

I would snap them up now if possible since it is now illegal to export them from Brazil due to declining numbers.

Wow    Ever since I've seen a picture of a Zebra Plec, I've wanted one. The only problem is - I don't have $120 to spend on anything, let alone a fish :p Yours are lovely! Great find! So, do TFFers get a discount on the babies? -_- :p
