Hi all,

Well, i've received my flourish excel! Let's hope that it really makes my plants thrive.. I think they seem to be doing a bit better with being seperated.

All i'm waiting on now is two Java ferns... have a dispute open on ebay atm about a seller who never delivered on an order I placed :/

It says I need to do a 40% or greater water change to add the Flourish Excel then keep adding daily.

Two questions:

1) Do I just chuck them both into the tank water, or do I need to do along with small water changes each time?

2) It says "1 capful for ever 40L - does this mean for ever 40L in the tank? or ever 40L water change? if that makes sense! Want to be sure not to o/d. (I've also wondered this for TapSafe!)

Cheers guys, sorry for the dumb questions, better over-cautious and safe

Another quick question;

I have a 120L tank

flourish doses: 1 capful (5mL) for each 250L. (each thread of cap contains 1mL) - for a 120 L would simply adding 2 threadfuls be a good dosing?

Flourish excel doses: it says 1 capful for 200L, so would simply half a capful be ok?

im sure you dose the capful per 40L on the first dose or after a large (>40%) water change, and then its something like 1 capful (5ml's) per 240L or something large like that.

ETA: Yeah, go with what you've written above but don't feel bad if you overdose the Flourish

yep as above. It would do you to get a couple of syringes from Boots, and then you can be more accurate with dosing.

I have some syringes :) good idea, just need to work out the precise amount!

All done, going to get some pics and compare if they improve... let's hope they do >.<

Its a good idea :) sometimes you don't actually notice the growth until you look back at pictures - thats why journals on the forum come in handy too ;)

Jon, they won't improve with one dose, you'll normally see a difference in a 2 week period.

Sorry Ian, should have made it more clear (not been too well today!) I meant over a period :) I wasn't expecting tree-like roots and leaves the size of a tree instantly

If only it was that simple aye Jon.

If i remember correctly isnt it ture that you cant overdose excell? Thats what i've been informed in the past.

Looking forward to any updates in the future Jon :) I've been following the progression of your tanks :)

Excel is the same as Easycarbo ie dangerous if OD'ed, they both glutaraldehyde which is the nasty part. Alwayswash hand after exposure.

Maybe it was Seachem Prime i was thinking of :S Can't remember.

More likely it was the actual flourish. So low in nutrient that without chuking huge amounts (50x) then it isn't going to do anything other than make the water cloudy.

Excel is a definate dose per bottle or double at most.

water conditioners intheory can be overdosed freely but still all that chemical in the tank?

For shelf bought fert concentrations you aren't going to have too many problems if you overdose (apart from the wallet emptying) unless you read 5ml as 5 litres. Excel or liquid C isn't a fert though it is different.
