I went to the fair and saw these neat bowls that you hang on your walls for bettas. I've seen pretty cheesy ones on ebay that are really small but these are awesome. I got a 6.7 liter one for $20, it's pretty spacey for a little plakat or something.

They even say clean the bowl partially once a week and do a full cleaning once a month and always use water conditioner.
I thought they were giving good advice and they don't really advertise it for goldfish which is good :)

I'll post pics of it. I'm putting it in the bathroom

I don't like those and would never use one...but that's my personal preference :)

Glad that you like it though :)

How are they supposed to get fresh oxygen? Is there a small hole in the top or something? I noticed a flap thing, but it looks like it completely seals when closed

What about keeping the water a constant temp?

Sorry for all the questions...just curious :)

It's a pity there's nowhere for a filter or heater, otherwise it's a nice idea.

The bathroom is not a good idea...
The temperature change in bathrooms are constant (showers) raise the warmth of the bowl considerably creating constant temperature fluctuations and there's no place for a heater in thos ehanging bowls to keep it constant.. Alot of things get sprayed in a bathroom that might get into his oxygen that would be unhealthy -
Hair Spray - Harsh Chemical cleaners - etc.

there is an opening at the top but it's shaped so it would be really hard for any suicide attempts.

I don't use heaters on most of my bettas and there aren't really any drastic temp changes so I think it'll be okay.

In theory those bowls are great, one thing about them is which wall you chose to hang them on. An inside wall would be a good choice because of temperature changes, even on a well insulated house there will vary a couple of degrees.

What if it falls off the wall? They'd easily jump out of that if they wanted to. And they are pretty small, I woudlnt ever have one myself

6.7 liters is almost 2 gallons. In fact I think one of my betta's tanks is about that. It would be ok, as long as the opening in the top can be coverd and you could get a heater in there (I have to use heaters because temp in my house changes a lot). I agree with not putting it on an outside wall (wall that has the outdoors on the other side) or in the bathroom, though. Honestly, for $20 you could have got something bigger/better, but if you like it and can make it work out right for you fish, then that's all that matters :) :good:

I would be too lazy to do maintenance on a tank like that. Give me something I can pickup and move around with ease. I, being the terrible clutz, would also be afraid I'd break it. If your willing, however, and you like it, more power to you. The larger one is an adaquate size and I guess it saves space. Just bear in mind that 2g with decorations is roughly 20lbs, so any nail or wall mount you use to mount it has be be able to withstand that weight.

Nice, I used to have one of those when little and it looked really nice planted up and with fish in it.

Not bad, although I'd be tempted to add some reinforcement. I was a bit bemused to see the website had suction cups you could use to hang it up with :S

i dont think i would risk it with a bowl filled with water and decorations hanging on my wall with a life inside. also personaly think 2 gallons is too small. and a heater and filter is needed. i ave to ask why dont you heat any of your betta tanks? bettas are tropical fish and need warm waters. just taking a short cut if you ask me leaving the heater and filter out...
thats another thing, in the bathroom, you arent going to add a heater or filter, as there is no plug sockets for them, i think somewhere else in the house would be a better idea. myself, im more of a square/rectangle tank with natural looking decor, but its what you like i suppose, just think of the betta living in there aswell

Oh yawn, don't some people get bored of saying the same things again and again to people who don't need to hear them? My room temperature is always warm enough for tropical fish, they seem just as happy and healthy (even more so) than when I heated all the tanks. Filtration, uneeded if you water change enough. Size, well, thats just a matter of opinion, isn't it.

Im sure it would look nice, I wouldnt use one either though. Id be worried it would fall off the wall or something.
Is there anywhere other than the bathroom you could put it?
Its just using bleach or something in the bathroom would cause very strong fumes to a little fish.
