Hi,
I have a real problem at the moment, and I'm hoping you guys might be able to offer some advice.

The short story is that I need to move out of my current house and can't move into my new house until 5 days later, so I'll have to stay in a hotel for those few days.

The problem is that there is nobody who can house my tank during those 5 days, and I really don't think that I can set up an 80 litre tank in the hotel room.

I really don't want to have to lose the fish, and I'm wondering if I could set up a small temporary tank in the hotel room, to keep them alive before moving into the new house. I could put the filter medium in the small tank, and also do very regular water changes. Not ideal, but I really don't want to lose the fish, and just don't have anywhere else that I can house them.

Do you guys have any thoughts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you no friends, family or anyone near that you can house the fish? If its not far your moving LFS' are usually understanding in such circumstances and will house fish for you temporarily. I've been in a few shops and seen fish in tanks and when i've enquired because they have no price on its because someone is moving house and they are housing them for them. If its a move to another city i can see why it would be a problem, but surely you have someone, anyone who can house a tqank for 5 days as a one off occasion. For a friend in need, right?

I'm assuming the 5 day gap is because you need to move out before the owners of your new house will be moving out? Would it be possible to ask really nicely if you could come in those few days earlier just to set the tank up?

I did that. The people moving out let me move my fish in for a week before they moved; jolly kind of them.

Thanks guys.

I don't have any family nearby and, for various reasons, none of my friends can house them either.

I can investigate the LFS angle. My concern is that one of the mollies seems to be developing pop-eye again, and so I wonder if they would be nervous about putting it in one of their tanks.
