As mentioned in my previous post, my wife bought me a male splenden (Ceasar) for my birthday.

I'm thinking of keeping it at work. I tried putting it in with my current tank but then I saw that the cory is missing some whiskers and then Ceasar got his fins stuck in the filter(which I saw within 5 minutes of that happening)

(Sidenote: The cory will regrow those whiskers, right?)

For now, I took him out and housed him in a glass vase until I get the tank, hopefully tomorrow.

So I'm going to buy a small tank and keep him at work on my desk.

I have a pretty large desk so I can fit a small tank on it.

What size tank would be sufficient? I know the bigger the better but I'm going to get a 1 or 2 gallon, maybe 3.

Should I plant it? What kind?

What kind of substrate on the bottom?

Any kind of decor?

Does it need a light? My workspace is well-light.

Heater?

I could also use info on some easy to find foods.

Any useful tips would be greatly appreciated.

blimey loads of questions but hey thats what we are here for and youve defo asked the appropiate ones so firstly i would make sure it is something larger 2 - 2.5g, bettas dont care about what you put in there regards substrate and decor, so i would go for something that would compliment the colour of your betta and that matches your stationary or work station  , a heater would be a good idea if your work place drops in temp dramatically over night, but do you really know this if your not there? -_- the heater obviously must suit the size of the tank as well otherwize you may boil him, plant wise.....something easy care thats nice and cheap that you dont mind replacing if you need to, silk plants are good as they are not gunna damage him if he rubs past them, saying that make sure there are no objects in there with sharp edges, a light is optional reallly depends on you, most work places are well lit so its up to you, try to get a tank with a lid on it though as bettas can jump the tanks.

good luck

A great reply by modaz :D

I'd say go for the largest tank you can fit on your desk :D I would heat it, filter it, have small gravel on the bottom and something like anubias nana which you could have tied to a bit of wood, which would add to the ambience of the tank and the fish will be able to rest on the wide leaves.

You can see examples of my two betta tanks in my signature link to give you an idea of what I have done :D

You can do as little or as much as you like really and there will likely be lots of different opinions on what you should/shouldn't do with your tank

Good luck with it . Don't know if its been mentioned or not as i tend to skip through things , but don't forget to add water conditioner to get rid of chlorine.

Modaz i tried to send you a message but your inbox is full.
