hi all. brought a male and female dwarf gourami today, they're in my tank in my signiture. water stats are ok, but they seem to hide an awful lot is this normal? :dunno:

Yes, it'll take a while for them to settle down and overcome their shyness. Having said that, dwarf gouramies can be fragile fish and are very prone to disease so keep an eye out for any lethargy.

I have a male Gourami (blue) who is NOT shy at all, hes always coming to the tank when im about, but i also have a female Gourami, and she does tend to hide alot....so im not sure ;)

i have a gourami (display pic) and he's active as anything! always looking for more food! he's the only colourful fish in the tank, with three corys so he's not threatened by anything. he seems happier since i got a nice big fake plant, he weaves his way through that when chasing food.

make sure you have enough oxygen in the water? mine almost died when i put him in :S i adjusted the filter and now he is happy

Dwarf gouramies breath atmospheric air. If you see yours gasping at the surface as if lacking oxygen, the problem is to do with water chemistry or a shock from not being acclimated carefuly enough.
