Hi everyone just wanted some advice. I have a betta rescued from pets@home (he’s gorgeous but must post pics up :) ). Hes a lovely character but he has a bit of fin rot. Other than that he seems to be happy, but I wanted to know, whats the best way to go about helping his fins to heal?

Thanks !! Ive just never had a betta with fin rot before, so im not 100 per cent sure on how to go about it!

When I get pics up I want some ideas for names as well !

the water is clean and the levels are all brilliant on the test kit, which is the best meds?

Is it actual fin rot or have his fins been shredded due to stress? If it's just shredding, try some aquarium salt in his water. Toss some bettafix remedy in there as well. Give him about a week and see if he is improving. If not, you'll have to treat with something like maracyn.

ok lynda B just ordinary aquarium salt? I will try that first, unfortunately i wont have access to a computer over the weekend but i will post pictures as soon as i can.

Clean, clean, clean water and aquarium salt..... just one dose.

We loves us some betta pictures..... :snap:

Thankyou i will get cracking when i finish work today. He's beautiful anyway but I just want him to be better. He's a pinky red colour with light blue fins

it's a pet chain store in the UK. I was only in there to get another API test kit as they are so much cheaper (as it's a chain I suppose) and I saw that pretty boy swimming around flaring like mad at a glass poking child. It was love at first sight hehe.

Oh..... silly me. When you said you rescued him, I thought it was a kind of animal rescue place. I volunteer in rescue.....

If we had a local place I would get my fish from there and/or help them out but there isn't one :( good on you though!
