Gooey Java Moss in a fry tank

I used to have this in my old old tank a few years ago and it has come back now in my fry tank any idea what causes it?

Blue green algae (Cyanobacter bacteria). It's a photosynthetic bacteria (bacteria that can photosynthesise like a plant) that loves nutrients, low oxygen levels, red light and slow water movement.

Do big daily water changes and try to suck the stuff out along with any gunk in the tank. try to use aged water for the water changes so the fry aren't too stressed.

If you are feeding a dry food to the baby fish, reduce the amount you put in the tank.

Increase water movement if possible. Not easy if the fry are young.

Thanks for your response! All the causes you listed are pretty much all present in the tank. The tank has a sponge filter and I have an orange/white light in the evening for a couple of hours before turning off. Fry are around 2-3 months old now. I will admit water changes don't happen often since work gets in the way this time of year.

If the fry are 2-3 months old they are old enough to tolerate big water changes and go onto other types of food including frozen maxine mix, brineshrimp, bloodworms, etc.
