For the last 5 months my 150g tank has been annoying me as I put it in originally 7 inches away from the wall and 18 inches away from a side wall leaving less space in my living room. To make room for 2 3ft tanks I had to move it so I drained 2 thirds of it yesterday and enlisted the help of two big mates of mine

We struggled to move it as it was on carpet as well and the metal stand legs were stuck in the carpet so we got a trolley car jack and used it to slightly raise one end and then managed to push it using that
.
Simples!! I have a cut hand as does one mate and the other has put his back out!! these tanks dont half weigh a lot but my room looks so much better and my two new 3ft tanks are next to it now waiting to be filled :good:

We soon forget how heavy these things are dont we - I moved a 125 litre with my fiance - no water in it but gravel was there...... Yep. Heavier than it looked.

Now we just have to move the 200 litre. Think the gravel will be coming out!

Why does glass weigh so much... come on scientists - hear our plea!

why does everyone have all these tanks and im getting grief for having just a 80g tank!

saying that i would love a 5ft but there simply isnt room.

maybe its time to move or get a new girlfriend

Get laminate flooring ;)

I can push my 50gal across the floor while its full. The trick is to push from the very bottom of the stand. I wouldnt recommend going right across the room, but its fairly easy to pull it out a foot or two to get behind it for wiring/pipework etc. Just take it slow, as a full tank sloshing all its water about will put pressure on the seams.

:)

hehe i just moved my 240L, i had to drain it to about 30% full to even attempt to move it.

It took two of us and it moved very slowly lol

But I much prefer the position we have it in now as its across a corner rather then into it.also to get to the back of the tank I can now climb through the bottom cabinet lol and appear at the other side, my two year old finds this quite amusing.
