Okay, I was recently informed that my Ropefish should be in a 55 gallon tank. I'll be getting this new tank in a matter of months so, I'm planning ahead. What would be a really cool tankmate for a Ropefish in a 55 gallon?(Tank might be bigger than 55) Any ideas?

Ropefish are not very aggressive, so I would say probably any fish over 3 inch's. I do know that rope fish are very social, and like being with their own kind, so you may want to get a few more.
Possibly less aggressive cichlids, larger gourami's, and largish top dwellers would be good tank mates.
I would recommend not having bottom dwellers with it, just to avoid any confrontation.

Thing is though, he's very passive. I have three cory's in my tank and he doesn't even care if they come into his caves. He only messes with things that can fit in his mouth.

More ropefish!!! Large new world cichlids, african butterfly fish, African knife fish, pictus cats, purple spotted gudgeons, severums. Just for starters :) Mine has no problems with the pictus cats, in a 55 they have more than enough room  When I put my ropefish in the 55 he swam around for a couple hours. It's cool to see that lump move

I can really have an African Knife!? I thought they got really big! How big do they get? I'd love to have one of those! :D

Not the clown knife, I think it's the african brown knife, 8 inches long, search for Xenomystus nigri on google. I had one that recently died :(
