The water here is super hard (196 ppm on the carbonate hardness, 89.5 ppm general hardness), and the pH from the tap is 8.5-ish. I was thinking about setting up a reverse osmosis system so I can fill my tanks with half RO water and half tap water. I'm hoping this can get the pH in my tank a little closer to neutral. What are some good RO systems? Is one from my local hardware store good enough, or do I need one specifically for aquariums? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
