I have a friend that is a clean freack with his tank. He works out of town and his wife moved the fish tank in there living room. Now with winter her the sun hits the tank. He was gone and the tank has lots of algae growth. The aquarium has a background in it that can not be removed. He wants to drain the tank , take the fish out and move it and clean the tank. This is the question? He was thinking of using Eferdent denture tablets to kill the algae and clean the tank. Would this work?

A mild bleach solution with a little bit of scraping should get rid of the algae. Rinse well, so that no bleach remains in the tank. Hopefully, he has a good filter, and won't have to start the niitrogen cycle from scratch. Do keep an eye on Ammonia and Niitrite levels
